In order to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to mitigating climate change, we have developed a strategic plan and set specific goals aligned with our commitment to gradually lower our carbon footprint while maintaining operational efficiency. 

Our commitment to a sustainable future translates into concrete actions: a gradual transition away from fossil fuels and the adoption of clean energy sources for our stores. 

We take measures and implement initiatives aimed at reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions across our entire value chain.

Our environmental strategy includes policies and practices for the responsible management of resources and the promotion of a circular economy. 

We implement recycling programs in collaboration with certified waste sorting and processing organizations, while also launching awareness initiatives to encourage employees and the public to adopt a more responsible and sustainable lifestyle.

Food Waste reduction

ΚΕΑ has invested in an electronic food waste monitoring and recording system (Waste Watchers) for its restaurant kitchens. 

At the same time, we train all employees working in IKEA stores where the Waste Watchers system is implemented, on the environmental impact of food waste and the importance of accurate tracking and effective inventory management. 

ΙΚΕΑ is also a member of the Alliance for the Reduction of Food Waste.
