Athens – July 25th, 2024 – Fourlis Group announces the installation and operation of a new photovoltaic system on the roof of its subsidiary Trade Logistics’ storage and distribution center in Schimatari, Boeotia. This initiative is part of the Group’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
The new photovoltaic system, the second to operate at Trade Logistics’ storage and distribution center, will produce approximately 1,415 MWh annually, covering 90% of its energy needs. This installation operates under the net-metering regime, significantly reducing energy transmission losses and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, thus contributing to environmental protection.
This investment is a significant step towards achieving Fourlis Group sustainability plans and another example of its commitment to promoting and investing in clean and renewable energy sources, while also ensuring significant economic benefits from the utilization of energy from the photovoltaic system.
Through the activities of Trade Logistics and its two distribution centers in Oinofyta and Schimatari, the Group today provides storage and distribution services for IKEA stores in Greece, as well as for INTERSPORT stores in Greece, Cyprus, Romania, and Bulgaria, while also serving e-commerce orders for IKEA’s e-shop in Greece, INTERSPORT in all the countries where the Group operates, and Holland & Barrett in Greece. With its specialized and experienced workforce, the use of technology, and the application of innovative methods in the logistics sector, Trade Logistics aims to further develop its activities through partnerships, providing its specialized services to companies outside the Fourlis Group. Notably, Trade Logistics will undertake the operation of the new international distribution center of Inter IKEA in Greece, from which the IKEA franchisees in Greece, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Israel, and Jordan will be initially supplied.
